Living Wage Act

In August 2021, the Ulster County Legislature adopted Ulster County Local Law Number 6 of 2021 requiring the payment of a Living Wage to all contractors and subcontractors that provide services to Ulster County. This law was signed by Ulster County Executive Patrick K. Ryan in September 2021.

For every Service Contract in excess of $50,000 entered on and after January 1, 2022, compensation for Covered Employees employed by Covered Employers shall be set in an amount no less than the Living Wage, in addition to retirement, health or other benefits received by the Covered Employee.

The Living Wage shall be an amount no less than fifteen ($15.00) dollars per hour worked, in addition to retirement, health or other benefits received by the covered employee. This amount may be increased by Resolution of the County Legislature to take into account current market conditions (e.g. inflation, changes in the consumer price index). Any such increase in the Living Wage shall be posted on the website of the Ulster County Purchasing Department.
